    MIGHTY WARRIOUR KING

    April 6, 2024

All glory to King Jesus, the Lion of Judah who is the Lamb who was slain!

Are you ready for His coming? He is doing a new thing.

Yet “there is nothing new under the sun.”

If we really want to know Jesus more, then it helps if we study His names like Mighty Warriour King,.because they tell us who he is.

Jesus, the Son of God who is God, is King of the Jews and even King of the Nations. Father God established His Son as the Warriour King to inherit the nations.

“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.”

    “I will declare the decree:

The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.

Ask of Me and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance,

And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

    You shall break them with a rod of iron;

You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’” (Ps. 2:6-9)

Kings and judges are counselled to humble themselves before Him:

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way,

When His wrath is kindled but a little.

Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. (Ps. 2:11-12)

"The LORD shall go forth like a mighty man, He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies." (Isa. 42:13)

God always shows His prophets what He is going to do. When the seventh angel sounded the trumpet, John the apostle saw and heard “loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever.’” (Rev. 11:15) John also saw Jesus, the living Word of God and Lord of hosts, coming out of heaven with His army following Him. This conquering King, crowned with many crowns was also called “King of kings and Lord of lords.” All will be subject to Him.

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (Rev. 19:11-15)

Kings coming in peace rode a donkey. Coming in war, they ride a white horse. God is slow to anger with a gentle and meek side, like when Jesus came as a Lamb. But meekness is not weakness and time can run out. He can also come as the royal Lion of Judah, in justice and wrath towards His enemies. Believers are no longer His enemies. Jesus showed a little righteous anger when He cleansed the temple, jealous for His Father’s House. There is “a time for every purpose under heaven.” (Eccl. 3:1) Although Jesus did not come as judge 2,000 years ago, there is a time for Him to come in judgment. Both the Old and New Testaments tell of times when Jesus displays the righteous anger of God treading the winepress of the grapes of wrath, and judicial times for mercy. Repentant faith in His blood is so important.

Vengeance belongs to Him. Multitudes in heaven will say, “‘Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God! For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.’” (Rev. 19:1-2)

Mighty Warrior King Jesus will defeat the beast, his false prophet and the devil, casting them and their followers into the lake of fire. But for followers of Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life, there will be no terror. He provides shelter and even if we die, we shall live with Him forever. Those who stand for their faith, victorious over the Antichrist, will sing in heaven the song of Moses and of the Lamb:

“Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty!

Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!

Who shall not fear You and glorify Your name?

    For You alone are holy.

For all nations shall come and worship before You,

For Your judgments have been manifested.” (Rev. 15:3-4)

Our Redeemer is a mighty advocate too, a just king, pleading the cause of the down-trodden. Mary proclaimed His greatness in her Magnificat. (Luke 1:46-55)

King Jehosaphat tapped into His mighty power and protection because he humbled himself to ask God for advice and help against enemies which were too strong for him. He wisely believed God and His prophet and God gave him strategy and victory. “‘You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.’” (2 Chron. 20:17) Like David told Goliath, “‘the battle is the LORD’s.’” (1 Sam. 17:47)

It was because of Jehoshaphat’s great faith in God’s word that he could send the praisers out before the army. “‘Believe in theLORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets and you shall prosper.’… Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against [their enemies who killed one another. They found] their dead bodies, fallen on the earth… And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the LORD had fought against the enemies of Israel.” (2 Chron. 20:20-24, 29) The LORD blessed them with abundant spoils too.

Jesus, as Lord God of hosts, is also Commander-in-Chief of the angels. He zealously defended Jerusalem against the king of Assyria. “Then the Angel of the LORD went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.” (Isa. 37:36)

Sometimes Jesus only needs to kill the evil tendencies in someone, and sometimes stronger measures are needed. But let Jesus decide. “The sword of the Spirit… is the word of God.” (Eph. 6:17) “Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have slain them by the words of My mouth… For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” (Hos. 6:5-6)

He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,

And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins,

And faithfulness the belt of His waist. (Isa. 11:4-5)

“We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,

The One who is and who was and who is to come,

Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.

The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,

And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,

And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints.

And those who fear Your name, small and great,

And should destroy those who destroy the earth.” (Rev. 11:17-18)

Jesus is still the same, “one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy.” (Jas. 4:12)
